Vergulde Hand is a good shaving soap. It offers good lathering ability, good cushioning, slickness, residual slickness and good post-shave feel. The soap is not irritating to the skin and the scent is a generic clean and masculine sort of scent. It really reminds me of the smell of Nivea’s canned shaving creams and gels.
The one detractor from the product is that 75 grams of soap for R172 is a worse deal than you’d get for locally made soaps. Bundubeard and MSC both sell significantly larger tallow-based shave soap pucks (160 grams) for the same price or even less, around R145.
